Should your caregiver be sick, we will have a replacement come and care for you.
Welcome Home Care has several care providers ready to cover these situations, and they all strive to meet and exceed your expectations.
The fundamental difference between PSWs (Personal Support Workers) and Companion Caregivers is that a PSW requires formal training, unlike a Companion Caregiver. Here is a little more detail:
A PSW has gone to school to be trained and receive their professional certification. They are highly trained individuals taught how to groom, deal with incontinence, transfer and position clients and provide several other services properly and professionally.
A Companion is comfortable performing everyday tasks and providing assistance when needed. One of our basic needs as humans is social interaction and companionship. When you can no longer do things for yourself, such as laundry, cleaning, preparing meals, running errands, and more, this is where we step in.
Almost every family has to face this question at some point. The right time for home care can be when a senior needs help to recover from a short-term health problem or when they are suffering from a long-term chronic health problem.
There are 6 ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (ADL) that individuals must be able complete daily without assistance to maintain their independence:- bathing
- eating
- dressing
- toileting
- ambulation (mobility & walking)
- continence
A person’s ability to perform these tasks determines what home care services they require to help them stay as independent as possible.
